Center of Jewish Cultural Heritage Synagogue Maribor prepared the exhibition in 2020 on the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz as part of the Shoah – Let Us Remember 2020 project, which commemorated the International Holocausr Remembrance Day and the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz.

The documentary exhibition tells the story of more than 2,300 people from Slovenia who were taken by the Germans to the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland during the Second World War. Of all the deported people, about 1,000 returned from the Auschwitz camp, while others died there. The exhibition shows the development of the Auschwitz concentration camp and the fate of the Slovenian victims of the camp; Slovenes, Jews, and Roma. Each Slovenian region is presented separately, first in general, and then several individual stories of specific victims are added.

Among the victims were 145 inhabitants of Zasavje, mostly relatives of shot hostages and partisans, who were deported to this death camp in 1942 as a direct result of the worst Nazi violence in Styria during the entire war.

The exhibition will be on display at the Hrastnik Museum from 15th of December 2022 until the end of January 2023.
