Shoah – Let Us Remember 2012

Less than seventy years after the liberation of the Nazi extermination camp Auschwitz, it seems as if one of the worst genocides of mankind – the Holocaust – is remembered by only a few survivors of the camp, while this tragic episode from our half-past history is becoming something increasingly distant, almost forgotten for the current generations . In an effort to prevent the loss of memory of one of the darkest sides of history, the UN General Assembly passed a resolution declaring January 27 as the International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Holocaust.

The International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Holocaust is commemorated at the Jewish Cultural Heritage Center of the Maribor Synagogue with the annual Shoah – Let Us Remember project. The beginnings of the project date back to 2010, and since then, more and more organizers from different parts of Slovenia have been involved in it with various events.
