Roma on the Move

27. 01. 2022

They are known as “Gypsies” and call themselves Roma or Sinti. According to the agreement of the First World Romani Congress in London 1971, we use the term Roma for all of them.

Exhibition Roma on the Move is familiarizing us with the history of Roma migrations to Europe with the emphasis on Slovenia, their culture and language, as well as the tragic destiny of the forgotten genocide.

It will be on display from 27th of January 2022, in EPEKA – Roma Station Maribor (Preradovičeva 1, 2000 Maribor).

At the opening of the exhibition, on 27th of January, at 18:00, the director of the Synagogue Maribor Boris Hajdinjak will give a lecture entitled Slovenian Roma in Auschwitz.

The exhibition is based on the exhibition Roma on the Move, prepared in 2008 by Academy Graz and Romano Service, and was completed with facts about the history of Roma in Slovenia.

Attendance and participation in the cultural event will only be possible within the framework of existing measures to prevent the spread of covid-19 and subject to compliance with the RVT condition (recovered vaccinated tested).
