Who is Jewish? What is individual Judaism about? Who was a Jew since always and who decided to become a Jew later?

Austrian photographer Peter Rigaud tried to find the answers on all those questions in his series of portraits of Viennese Jews that were faced with questions about Jewish identity. The photographer made the exhibition in close cooperation with Jewish Museum Vienna. Searching for identity is very wide set and it can be presented through the individual opinions of the photographed persons and their different social, religious and global views on Jewish identity through many generations. And finally, the exhibition is exposing the ultimate question, questioned by everyone, whether they are Jewish or not: Who am I?

The exhibition is dedicated to the International Holocaust Remembrance Day and tries to answer on many still actual questions. Honorary speaker at the opening will be the president of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor, whereas the exhibition will be opened by His Excellency Dr Clemens Koja, the Austrian Ambassador to Slovenia. Cultural programme will be performed by pupils of Maribor First Grammar School, under the artistic guidance of Polona Meke Ožinger, and musical group KontraKvartet from Maribor.

Sponsor of the exhibition Jude sein – Being Jewish is Nova KBM. Honorary patron of the project Shoah – Let Us Remember 2013 is Karl Erjavec, minister of foreign affairs of the Republic of Slovenia. The project was realized with the financial support of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance – IHRA.
