“On Friday, 28th of October 2022, Synagogue Maribor and Posavje Museum Brežice opened an exhibition in the exhibition area above the Lutheran Cellar in Sevnica entitled “Here Is Where Death Worked Itself to Death…”: the Slovenian victims of Auschwitz, documentary exhibition, Stevan Savić, camp number A-19960.

On the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz in 2020, Synagogue Maribor prepared an exhibition about the Slovenian victims of Auschwitz. When visiting the Posavski Museum in Brežice in 2021, the exhibition was enriched with the story of the family of Stevan Savić from Sevnica, who experienced the hell of this camp.

The program was co-created by Boris Hajdinjak, director of Synagogue Maribor, and the author of the exhibition, Estera Savić Bizjak, daughter of Stevan Savić. The mayor of the Municipality of Sevnica, Srečko Ocvirk, welcomed the gathering. The program was coordinated by the director of the Posavina Museum in Brežice, Alenka Černelič Krošelj. We would like to thank KŠTM Sevnica for the hosting opportunity. The event is prepared in honor of the holiday of the Municipality of Sevnica.

The exhibition will be on display until 7th of December 2022.
