On Monday, 6th of February 2023, at 6 p.m., we kindly invite you to the Judicial Tower (Sodni stolp, Pristan 8, Maribor) to the commemorative cultural event How Children Experience the Holocaust.

As part of the event, we will present the picture book The Pebble by Marius Marcinkevičius (illustrator Inga Dagilė), which was recently published in a Slovenian translation by Pivec Publishing House.

The presentation will be accompanied by a theatre performance about the Holocaust and a round table on the topic of children and the Holocaust in literature. The theatrical performance will be performed by the pupils of Starše Primary School, who participate in the school’s theatre group, and the performance was prepared as part of the Crocus 2022/23 project. The students’ mentors are Leonida Babič and Tanja Šimek.

The round table discussion will take place after the performance. Boris Hajdinjak, director of the Maribor Synagogue and historian, Zala Stanonik, editor of the book The Pebble, and Zdenka Gajser, senior librarian at the Maribor Public Library, will take part in the conversation. The conversation will be moderated by Marjetka Berlič, history teacher at the Maribor Drago Kobal Primary School.
